“Initially I was quite guilty about it. Somebody had to die to give me the organs,” says David, who is a pancreas and kidney transplant recipient.
“For somebody to offer their organs, and for their family to agree to it, it’s an amazing thing.”
To register as an organ donor, or check if you already are one, visit donatelife.gov.au It is quick and simple – all you need is your Medicare card.
But more importantly, chat to your family about the decision, as ultimately they are the ones who need to agree.
