"Theonie continues raising funds for KTDRA"

After raising close to $50,000 towards KTDRA at her inaugural aHUS Awareness Ball last year, Theonie Roussianos hosted a quiz night earlier this year at the Campbelltown City Soccer and Social Club, raising $6,600!

Theonie’s loving husband Gerry suffers from Atypical Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome (aHUS), an extremely rare blood disease that severely damages the body’s vital organs including the kidneys, heart and brain, prompting Theonie to begin fundraising for KTDRA.

Over 200 people attended the quiz night with Adelaide’s Seven News political reporter and presenter Mike Smithson the official Quiz Master, delivering tough questions that tested the audience.

Professor Toby Coates also attended the event, reflecting on the cause and the importance of research into diseases such as aHUS.

The night also included a silent auction and a large selection of raffle prizes up for grabs!

“Medicine has come a long way in the last 50 years. With the generous support of everyone who’s donated and attended my events, I hope that we can make a real impact into the future for all patients,” Theonie said.

We thank Theonie for her incredible fundraising efforts which aren’t stopping here! She is hosting her second aHUS Awareness Ball on Saturday November 3, so mark this date in your diary and get ready for a night of great food and fun at the Grand Ballroom in Adelaide.
